A Futures and Systems Change Laboratory
How do people create alternative spaces of belonging, agency, imagination, and transformation when existing systems are no longer enough?

Origin Story
Third Space Futures emerged from Third Space Feminism, a research project that explored alternative futures for feminist movements across physical and digital spaces.
Rooted in postcolonial theory, the concept of Third Space examines how people create alternative spaces of belonging, imagination, and transformation when existing systems fail to accommodate them.
Third Space Futures extends this idea beyond gender and digital communities to explore broader questions of democracy, care, wellbeing, technology, climate, inclusion, and collective futures. It serves as a space for connecting ideas, people, stories, and practices that help communities imagine and build alternatives to systems that no longer serve them.
Mission
To help communities, organizations, and institutions imagine and build more just, regenerative, and life-centered futures.
Vision
A world where people are active participants in shaping the systems that shape their lives.
